South Staffordshire PCT Elephant Kiosks
What it is
The Elephant kiosks are a free standing web linked touch screen to access current, national and local information to support patients and the public to navigate services and achieve improved health and well being and helping raise awareness of current public health initiatives.
The kiosks are unique in there design, they allow users to position the screen height and angle to suit their personal needs and are fully DDA compliant. They are fun, friendly and flexible.

When it started
September saw the first kiosk installed at the Burton Caribbean Association and the second kiosk was installed at the Queens Street Community Centre, Burton on Trent. In October the third installation took place in the Stafford Community Safety Shop, in the Guildhall shopping centre.
Further kiosks have been installed during November and December 2008.
What it is achieving
Elephant kiosks are an innovative solution to enable everyone to access chosen information. In a drive to improve accessibility and the range of information available to patients and the public, South Staffordshire PCT has purchased 48 kiosks which equates to 8 per District / Borough Council area. The location of the kiosks and the information to be accessed via the kiosks is yet to be determined.
Key Innovation message
Information accessible to a population which covers rural and Urban demographics. The information available is current and local as well as national and can be used to support public health and educational messages to the public.
