Special Website to promote Chlamydia testing - www.doyouhaveit.co.uk
To encourage more 15-24 year olds to get tested for Chlamydia in Lincolnshire we have developed the www.doyouhaveit.co.uk website and supporting campaign.
Packed with useful information on sexual health, the site is designed to dispel myths and direct young people to their nearest testing centre.
A special feature of the web site is that visitors to the site can order a Chlamydia self testing kit to be delivered by post, without the need to speak to anyone.
NHS Lincolnshire failed to meet the 17% screening target in 15- 24 year olds during 2008/09 and now needs to meet the 25% target for 2009/10.
A lack or awareness about Chlamydia and available sexual health services is a challenge to overcome in Lincolnshire which contributed to the development of the website.
Benefit to patients and staff?
Raising awareness of Chlamydia in young people. Most people with Chlamydia have no symptoms, so they may not know that they have the infection.
Providing a facility for visitors to the site to request a test kit by post without any potential embarrassment of the need to speaking to an advisor.
Patients can request a kit through the contact details on the website at anytime, without being restricted to clinic opening times.
