HCAI Technology Innovation Programme
There will be an exciting range of new technologies and design prototypes on display aimed at helping to fight HCAIs.
Showcase Content:
The HCAI Technology Innovation Programme comprises several key work streams, including:

Design Bugs Out (stand 19) – key items of healthcare equipment and furniture are being redesigned to make them easier to clean; Exhibits include a porter’s chair, a patient bedside system, a self-timing cannula, a unique new patient chair and a wipeable, polythene-covered blood pressure cuff.
Smart Solutions for HCAI (stand 18) – innovative technologies from across industry sectors have been identified to undergo hospital trials. Exhibits include air disinfection units, UV light inspection lamps, a two-layer sterile field procedure mat, innovative cleaning products and a unique MRSA testing device.
Smart Ideas (stand 17) – technologies are being developed that are based on ideas from NHS front line staff, particularly around temporary isolation facilities. Exciting prototypes of mobile isolation facilities will be on display. The systems have many components, which will work in a modular fashion or independently, including a portable hand washing system, commode and air door.

Partners include:
The private sector, NHS Trusts, academia and voluntary groups: Design Council; TrusTECH; NHS National Innovation Centre; Renfrew Group.
The Design Council has been commissioned to lead the Design Bugs Out project. It works with people and organisations in the public and private sectors driving the development of new solutions to the UK’s social and economic challenges.
The NHS National Innovation Centre has been commissioned to lead the Smart Ideas project. The organisation is working closely with the Renfrew Group, leading industrial designers.
The NHS National Innovation Centre is also supporting TrusTECH, the NHS North West Innovation Hub, to run the Smart Solutions for HCAI project.
