NHS National Innovation Centre - ‘The National Innovation Centre, for a healthier future’

The National Innovation Centre is a DH Centre of Excellence that supports innovators from across the innovation landscape and advises the DH on commissioning innovation.

Showcase Content:

Showcasing cutting edge Healthcare technology and innovation commissioning systems.

On the NIC stand you will see several leading innovations that will deliver value to both the NHS and the patient.  These are:

  • A hand-held non-invasive blood glucose meter for use by  people with diabetes,
  • a minimally-invasive process now being used successfully in  the NHS for treating varicose veins
  • a rapid, point-of-care test for diagnosing MRSA
  • An interactive web based application providing training in  venepuncture. The lifelike simulation gives the trainee tactile  and informative feedback on their performance.
  • An interactive display of the DH’s leading edge web-based  innovation commissioning tools.  The NIC’s new web site with  innovation commissioning tools and Innovations Showcase will  be launched at EXPO on 18th June
